Our Story

Hello, dear one-

Alkemie Jewelry is more than a collection; it’s the story of our love, family, and creativity woven into every piece we make. As a husband-and-wife duo, we’ve spent the past two decades not just building a business but crafting a life—raising our family while designing jewelry that reflects our shared passions.

From treasure hunting at flea markets to wandering wild landscapes and traveling far and wide, we are endlessly inspired by the beauty around us. Our designs pay tribute to Mother Earth, rock & roll, and vintage aesthetics—blending organic elements with a rebellious edge.

Before we co-created Alkemie, I had my own collection of  jewelry—called dara. The  line was carried by Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and top boutiques across Japan and the U.S. Ashley, too, was immersed in the world of jewelry—his collection- Ilana Goor, embodied a rock & roll spirit, featuring hand-cast sculptural designs and leather elements that landed in some of the coolest boutiques across the country

For years, we showcased our collections exclusively at trade shows—until one night after a wholesale tradeshow in NYC, i woke ash up from a dream i had  of a having a mobile shop that would take our artistry beyond the traditional showroom. Four years (and a lot of repurposed materials) later, Alkemie Road was born.Our sacred traveling oasis has graced the Malibu Pier for many moons  and now once again calls Topanga Canyon home, where it was originally built.

Inside Alkemie Road, you’ll find our entire collection alongside curated vintage treasures, sacred objects, curiosities, and some of my favorite organic beauty brands or third eye enhancing potions. Like everything we do, our shoppe runs on intuition and flow—we open when the moment feels right, embracing the magic of serendipity.

At its heart, Alkemie Jewelry is a labor of love—a reflection of our journey as artists, partners, and parents. Every piece we create carries our story, and we hope it becomes part of yours.

Our Philosophy 

Forged from 100% reclaimed metals, husband-and-wife design team Ashley Lowengrub & Dara Gerson's unique jewelry is equal parts art and accessory. By creating new designs from existing materials in abundance, Alkemie’s mission is to translate something that would otherwise be landfill-bound into wearable art.

Our biggest design inpiration pays tribute to the greatest designer on the planet, Mother Nature mixed with influences from vintage styles ie: (art nouveau, watch fob chains, early textiles) and a bit of rock n' roll.

Capturing and reinterpreting texture from soft organic forms into lustrous metal is an integral part in Alkemie's design philosophy.  An Alkemie cuff, ring or necklace first starts with an inspiration- a leaf, a starfish, or a one of a kind vintage piece. To replicate the texture and dimension of an object, the designers cast through a lost wax process, playing with the design, and discovering different light dimensions and form. The design process is then culminated in the final casting of the form in a solid piece of reclaimed metal.  The blend is copper & zinc. There is no nickel, lead or plating. An Alkemie piece is an artistic manifestation reflecting the incredible depth and life of natural textures and objects.

All Alkemie designs are Lead & Nickel Free.  We patina our pieces to make them appear as though they came out of a treasure chest!  If you wish to shine, brush with warm water and bleach-free natural soap.
